BMUN LXXI 23rd

 Hi everyone! My name is Eric Pan and I will be one of your vice chairs for the 23rd committee for BMUN LXXI.  I’m currently a 2nd-year majoring in History and Political Science. I’ve been fascinated by history and politics since I was a child after a lot of exposure to documentaries and visits to various museums, and I am really happy I’m able to continue my pursuit of my passion here at Berkeley.  I’ve been involved with MUN for all four years of high school, although I’ve never been to BMUN as a delegate and used to attend SMUNC instead. (I know, treacherous) I’m glad to now however, stand (or I more accurately guess sit) on the other end of the committee, and help continue this great tradition of facilitating political discourse! Hi everyone and welcome to 23rd! My name is Vivian Kuang (she/her) and I’ll be one of your vice chairs at BMUN 71. I’m a junior majoring in Political Economy and Data Science with a concentration in Race and the Law, and I'm originally from here in the Bay Area. My academic and professional interests center on inequality, more specifically incarceration and policing, immigration, and Asian American and ethnic studies. Recently, I've become more interested in learning about ethnic studies research epistemology (the production of knowledge, and resisting traditional power structures that disempower the research perspectives of people of color and other marginalized people), as well as social movements and community organizing! I generally focus on the US in my work, but I think it's really informative and important to examine global history as well, which this committee has definitely helped me with! My hope is that this committee will be a learning experience for you as well...

  Hi delegates! We are so excited to welcome you to BMUN 71 and the 23rd Session committee. In this committee, you will be tackling the issues faced by representatives at the 23rd Session of the United Nations in 1968. Our first topic addresses the Treaty of the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) . Our second topic addresses the Vietnam War . This blog will act as our committee’s more informal avenue for discussion and communication before the conference– and we’d love to see you interact with it! The purpose of this blog is to (1) allow you to actively engage with the content of this committee and (2) give you all the opportunity to learn about other countries’ policies before the debate actually starts.  Hello Delegates! My name is Timothy Yue, and I am the Head Chair for BMUN 71's 23rd Session. My pronouns are the he/him series. I am a third-year History major here at UC Berkeley, and am primarily interested in East Asian history during the 19th-century, and international systems of law and politics. My experience with Model United Nations is comparatively limited; I chaired for BMUN last year, which was my first experience with MUN. I did, however, do seven years of Speech and Debate throughout middle school and high school, in which I competed in a wide variety of events. Outside of BMUN, I am a student editor for UC Berkeley's Oral History Center, and a competitive player of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game and Super Smash Bros Ultimate .
